Silver crafting is a traditional art in Kelantan since ancient times. The shiny metal is skillfully moulded into specific design before carefully marked with patterns on the surface to produce unique markings.
Filigree is the art of coiling fine silver wire into intricate motifs which is either in traditional taste or modern design. It is usually made into adornment for ladies. Among the floral motifs are sunflower,cempaka, orchid and rose which are delightful manifestation of the Malay art and culture.
Fine filigree is also found on souvenirs, traditional weaponry and royal insignia.
Royal Silvermoon is renowned for its intricacy of design and superior workmanship. Silversmiths use two kinds of techniques – filigree and repousse. Items range from the functional to the purely ornamental and include fruit bowls, tea sets, ash trays, brooches and bracelets.
